For as long as I can remember, I've been interested in painting, drawing, sculpting and photography. The emphasis in my work lies in the process of intuitively rearranging any given image - mostly one of my photos, polaroids and digital - slowly sculpting it into a deeply personal expression. An important step is the use of various overlays of textures I love to create. The subject is mostly a face, often a self-portrait, which I then carefully alter into an 'inner portrait' by letting it find its way through the filters of my experiences. Another starting point are the tiny busts I sculpt, paint and photograph. A long series of inner portraits was born, that function like a mirror in which the world as I see it is reflected. I named this series 'Portraits of the Other Side'.

As I moved to the country side, I was inspired by the landscape and discovered how much I love to work with soft pastels.

Whether I look inside through my portraits or outside through my landscapes, I hope to provoke emotions in the viewer to remind them that images possess the power to create something new within us. Trivial things as well as extraordinary ones influence us immensely each moment. Only something as arbitrary as art can make us aware.
